Maliki High School was established in 1974 as a Harambee mixed secondary school. The school is located on a 20 acre piece of land. It is approximately 35km from Kitale town along Kitale – Webuye highway. The school was registered by the government in 1977 and given registration no 2967 by the ministry of education.

The school became government aided in 1987. Maliki high school has undergone important milestones growing from a one streamed school at its initiation to a three streamed school. The school began as mixed school but gradually transformed to a pure boys school in 200. Currently the school has a population of 650 students, 30 teachers and 18 non-teaching and support staff. The school’s mean score has tremendously improved from a mean grade of D+ in 2004 TO C in 2011. The school has improved its infrastructure and currently has 14 classrooms, administration block and a laboratory. Maliki High School looks forward to attain its vision of being a seat of excellence in providing quality education and mission of providing quality secondary education through relevant academic and non academic programs

To obtain this vision and mission the school has developed a five year strategic plan that will guide its operations. The strategic plan carefully analyses the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the school with a view of building on its strengths, resolving its weakness, exploiting opportunities available and avoiding the threats. It also scans the Political, Economic, Social and Technological factors that affect the operations of the school.

The strategic plan lays down the objectives and strategies to achieve the goals of the school within five years. Periodic reviews are necessary since strategic planning is not a static process but continuous process. Monitoring and evaluation process is also clearly spelt out in the plan.
